Welcome to the website of the Probus Club of Epsom
The name Probus derives from two words - PROfessional and BUSiness. It is an association of retired, Professional and Business people who join together to provide regular opportunities to keep their minds active and enjoy the fellowship of others with similar interests.
The Probus Organisation has a world wide network of clubs who operate independently running their own affairs and organising the activities that they provide for their members. The clubs are non-political.
The Probus Club of Epsom was formally established on 11th August 1971. The initiative was organised by Norman Hughes, a retired director of Cunard, working with Arthur Hawkins, the then Chairman of Epsom Rotary, who was one of the early members and later became a chairman of the Club. Arthur was one of two brothers who ran different car garages in the Epsom area and was well know to the business community in the Town. The Inaugural Meeting of our Club was attended by some 49 business people who formed the initial members. Over the last 50 years membership has varied and now stands as around 30. The Club is managed by a Committee elected annually from the Members at the AGM.
From 1st April 2024 ladies were admitted as members of the Epsom Probus Club.
